U12 #1, U12, 2012 (Howick Minor Soccer)

Howick hosted Palmerston for our first playoff game and came away with a hard fought 2-1 victory. Howick opened the scoring in the game with a rebound goal from Carly Kreller who drilled it for a 1-0 lead. Tyler Haden had a shot on net which the goalie stopped but Carly picked up the rebound.

Howick had a home and home series with Listowel over the past 2 weeks and came out of the series with 2 ties. Howick travelled to Listowel and played to a 2 to 2 draw. Howick opened the scoring with a goal from Austin English. Carly Kreller broke in on a break away and hammered a goal to take a 2-0 lead into the half. Cole Schefter played awesome net to record a shut out in the first half. Nigel Versteeg assisted on both goals. With 2 questionable calls resulting in a yellow and a red card Howick finished the game down a player and Listowel scored twice to finish the game tied at 2.

Howick came home after starting the season on the road with a loss and took it to Palmerston winning their home opener 3-0. Cole Shefter and Nigel Versteeg split the goaltending duties picking up the shut out. Austin English hammered 2 goals and assited on the third. Nigel Versteeg had a great goal in the first half going round the defender.Assits went to Syd Pruden and Danika Whitehead.
